Wikulu – Self-organizing Wikis

The importance of wikis has grown tremendously over the last years, as shown by the success of Wikipedia and the growing acceptance of corporate wikis. A major problem of wikis is that only in the beginning, when there is little content, the usability is high. With increasing amount of content, the usability quickly decreases. Within the “Wikulu - Self-Organizing Wikis” project, we employ the latest Natural Language Processing technologies to improve the usability of wikis, e.g. by automatically searching for corresponding links to enrich the text or finding duplicate content. The project’s objective is thus to implement intelligent approaches to assist the user while creating, editing, or searching content. Wikulu should relieve the user of manual information management, leaving more room for productive work. The name Wikulu comes from the Hawaiian words wiki (fast) and kukulu (organize).

The project Wikulu is funded by the Klaus-Tschira-Foundation.
