SENTAL - Sentiment Analysis for User Generated Discourse in E-Learning 2.0

One prominent feature of e-learning 2.0 is collaboration. Members share their opinions by creating mass amount of discourse through wikis, blogs, and forums. However, this growing amount of user generated discourse places considerable burdens on learners as well as instructors who wish to track learners' opinions and views on diverse topics, or search for content containing opinions.

Enabling subjectivity and sentiment analysis allows to generate feedback from user generated discourse, and to support information search in e-learning 2.0. That means e.g. if a professor wants to know what contents to put the focus on or how his lectures are assessed, an automatic evaluation of students’ opinions would assist him.

The project SENTAL is funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG).
