Linked Lexical Knowledge BasesIryna Gurevych, Judith Eckle-Kohler, and Michael Matuschek have authored Linked Lexical Knowledge Bases: Foundations and Applications, published in July 2016 as part of Morgan & Claypool's Synthesis Lectures on Human Language Technologies series.

Special Issues


Iryna Gurevych of the UKP Lab is a guest co-editor of "Argumentation in Social Media", a special section of the ACM Transactions on Internet Technology.

Conference Organization


The GSCL 2013 ProceedingsUKP Lab organized GSCL 2013, the annual meeting of the German Society for Computational Linguistics and Language Technology (Gesellschaft für Sprachtechnologie & Computerlinguistik).

The GSCL 2013 proceedings have been published by Springer in print and online versions.

Workshop Organization


Iryna Gurevych of the UKP Lab is co-organizing the 3rd Workshop on Argument Mining, to be held at ACL 2016 in Berlin.  Prof. Gurevych is also co-organizing the workshop's Special Track on Debating Technologies.

Richard Eckart de Castilho from the UKP Lab is co-organizing the workshop on Cross-Platform Text Mining and Natural Language Processing Interoperability at LREC 2016 in Portorož (Slovenia) on May 23rd 2016. 

Tutorial Organization


Tristan Miller was an invited lecturer at the 16th International Summer School and Symposium on Humour and Laughter, held at Transilvania University of Brașov from 4 to 9 July 2016.  Slides from his talk, "Computational Approaches to Pun Detection and Interpretation", are available for download.

A tutorial entitled "NLP Approaches to Computational Argumentation" will take place at the 54th Annual Meeting of the Association for Computational Linguistics (ACL 2016) on Sunday, 7 August 2016 in Berlin, Germany.  The tutorial will be jointly organized by Iryna Gurevych of the UKP Lab, Noam Slonim of IBM Research, Chris Reed of Dundee University, and Benno Stein of Bauhaus-Universität Weimar.

A course entitled "Argument Mining" will be held at the Second Summer School on Argumentation: Computational and Linguistic Perspectives (SSA'16) in Potsdam, Germany in September 2016.  The course is organized by Iryna Gurevych, Christian Stab, and Ivan Habernal of the UKP Lab.
