Iryna Gurevych, Judith Eckle-Kohler, and Michael Matuschek have authored Linked Lexical-Semantic Knowledge Bases: Foundations and Applications, to appear in 2016 as part of Morgan & Claypool's Synthesis Lectures on Human Language Technologies series.

Special Issues


Iryna Gurevych of the UKP Lab is a guest co-editor of "Argumentation in Social Media", a special section of the ACM Transactions on Internet Technology.

Conference Organization


The GSCL 2013 ProceedingsUKP Lab organized GSCL 2013, the annual meeting of the German Society for Computational Linguistics and Language Technology (Gesellschaft für Sprachtechnologie & Computerlinguistik).

The GSCL 2013 proceedings have been published by Springer in print and online versions.

Workshop Organization


Iryna Gurevych of the UKP Lab is co-organizing the 3rd Workshop on Argument Mining, to be held at ACL 2016 in Berlin.  Prof. Gurevych is also co-organizing the workshop's Special Track on Debating Technologies.

Richard Eckart de Castilho from the UKP Lab is co-organizing the workshop on Cross-Platform Text Mining and Natural Language Processing Interoperability at LREC 2016 in Portorož (Slovenia) on May 23rd 2016. 

Shared Task Organization


Tristan Miller, Judith Eckle-Kohler, and Iryna Gurevych co-organized GermEval 2015: LexSub, the first German-language lexical substitution task, which was held at GSCL 2015.

Tutorial Organization


At the International Conference of the German Society for Computational Linguistics and Language Technology (GSCL 2015) in Essen, Germany, the UKP Lab (Christian M. Meyer and Hatem Mousselly Sergieh) presented the tutorial "Lexical Resources for Natural Language Processing". The tutorial notes and example code is available online.
